Experience: In mid-March, just as COVID-19 was starting to take hold in NYC, I got word of an health emergency with my 88-year old mother that required my presence. I booked the next available flight to where my parents live and headed to the airport by car. I didn't know how long I would be away, and I couldn't leave my car in the street due to alternate-side-street parking. I parked in LaGuardia's Terminal A lot. A few days after I left NYC, the lock downs started. I decided to stay at my parents' home to look after them for as long as possible. I contacted LaGuardia via Twitter, and the LGA Twitter account monitor kindly referred me to ABM, the parking company. Talina Espinal at ABM answered my inquiry right away. She assured me that my car would not be towed,and she provided me the parking extension form to submit. She also advised me to send her my original return itinerary as Port Authority would freeze fee accruals at my original return date. Amazing!

A very nice female employee, named Shaneek Grant, saw me looking unsure of what to do about getting more money on my AirTrain metro card. I have travelled through there a number of times, but each time I come it takes me a minute to remember how it all works. Ms. Grant saw me looking unsure, and stepped out to offer direction. She was so nice and helpful. It took me a minute to figure out what to do from what she was saying, at a safe social distance, yet she was patient as I worked through the steps. When I saw Mr. Carrero, I inquired as to the location of the office and how to get there and he was extremely helpful, patient, and courteous. He told me about the recent changes to the LGA inter-terminal bus system, as well as the change in location of the office from the old terminal B to Hangar 7. Additionally, he walked me to the bus stop, instructed me where to get off, and the exact location of the proper door at the hangar. Finally, he gave me the parking office phone number in case I had any issues. Mr. Carrero is a fine representative of your company and went above and beyond to help me out. Experience: It was opening day at Terminal B. It was late in the evening and included a lot of confusion in the area of "For Hire cars", such as a lack of serve involving a couple of the car companies (Lyft, etc.) Simon Biswas was excellent in his approach to customer frustration and went to great lengths to help passengers sort out other options. He also was very helpful in assisting passengers reload their baggage onto carts whereby they might go to a different area of the terminal for other transportation. I'm sure any newcomer to New York would be impressed with his attitude and graciousness in a time of stress for many. Obviously, this would be a surprise for most anyone coming into NYC expecting so much less. Simon was a pleasant surprise, even for New Yorkers!

Comments: I originally booked a flight home to Louisiana for an important family event. The flight was supposed to depart from Newark and take me to Baton Rouge. At the last minute, I was informed by American Airlines that my flight had been changed and would now depart from LaGuardia. This meant that I had to drive to the airport, rather than take NJ transit, and therefore had to leave my car parked at the airport. I was really worried about what this would cost me, especially once my original return flight was cancelled due to COVID-19. I reached out to LaGuardia to see what I could do about my car, and got a prompt response from Talina Espinal. Talina was an absolute God-send. Not only did she assure me that I would not be charged beyond what my original itinerary would have required me to pay, but she contacted the Port Authority on my behalf in order to reduce my daily parking fee by 50% since I had originally not planned to park my car at all (since originally I should have flow out of Newark). Talina kept me updated on this process on an almost daily basis (for a full month), and, in the end, saved me $864 in parking fees. I am so very grateful for her, and by extension for LaGuardia airport, for being so helpful and understanding during this uncertain time.

Comments: I’m a military Service Member returning from overseas with a mild injury that makes navigating a large airport with many bags rather difficult. I signed up for a wheelchair transport to ease this process, and Elijah was the employee who assisted me. Elijah was not only kind, considerate, and a complete professional, but managed to assist with bags (some were heavy military duffles) and navigate me through the terminal and get me all the way to the taxi stand with all of my belongings. Comments: Having my car parked in the lot at Terminal B at LAGUARDIA is my weekly habit. Not being able to retrieve it for two and one half months because of COVID-19 was the dilemma. When I called worried about my mounting parking charges and the possibility that my car would be towed, Talina Espinal was my savior. She calmed me down and walked me through the paperwork of requesting an extension of time in the lot due to the corona virus. I got her my documentation, and she finalized and filed my application with the Port Authority. When I was finally able to retrieve my car, the staff at the airport was able to easily see my paperwork and speed me along my way. Cesar Luque saw the bag, told us it was open, but he had it and proceed to bring it to bus stop 10 since he would be the next bus arriving. Rafael Mejio, the supervisor, waited at the stop until Lugue's shuttle arrived. The back pack was open because my son had pulled his hoodie out and not re-zipped it. Everything was in the bag! These three men problem solved without us needing to go back to the airport, saved us a lot of anguish and were the most professional, competent and caring employees I have ever seen!!! This was the first time I used the Newark Airport. I've always gone out of BWI and Dulles, and I can tell you I have NEVER experienced customer service remotely close to this. Even a passenger on the shuttle said...guess you won't be getting that bag back, but because Rojos reacted so quickly, we did. I can't thank these gentlemen enough. Comments: Jaime provided exemplary service to the passengers on the arriving plane from Doha, Qatar, and especially myself. He was the only staff at the baggage carousel and I observed him helping many passengers with their luggage - especially older passengers and moms with kid, showing them how the luggage cart machine worked, and answered questions about onward flights. In my case, he went above and beyond his duties because I had multiple bags and a cat that would be very difficult to manage by myself, taking up two carts. He stayed close to me until all my bags and cat arrived and helped me out to the taxi stand. He refused a tip saying it was against policy although I wanted to give him one considering the circumstances. So hopefully you might give him recognition for his amazing service in such a stressful time because he was very courteous and cheerful and a ray of light after a long and difficult trip. Comments: I am ABSOLUTELY amazed at this level of customer service!!! We had just picked up the shuttle going to the long term parking lot and my son realized he had left his backpack on the bench out side...yes, passport, money, airpods etc!!! Boliver Rojos heard him start to get upset and asked what had happened. He immediately picked up his phone and called the next driver in line to check at the stop. Cesar Luque saw the bag, told us it was open, but he had it and proceed to bring it to bus stop 10 since he would be the next bus arriving. Rafael Mejio, the supervisor, waited at the stop until Lugue's shuttle arrived. The back pack was open because my son had pulled his hoodie out and not re-zipped it. Everything was in the bag! These three men problem solved without us needing to go back to the airport, saved us a lot of anguish and were the most professional, competent and caring employees I have ever seen!!! This was the first time I used the Newark Airport. I've always gone out of BWI and Dulles, and I can tell you I have NEVER experienced customer service remotely close to this. Even a passenger on the shuttle said...guess you won't be getting that bag back, but because Rojos reacted so quickly, we did. I can't thank these gentlemen enough. As employees, they represent your business in a way few do...........it was an exceptional experience in customer service!!! I am grateful!!
